You have to admit the lyrics are good though. I don't really like Johny Cash's voice and it pissed me off how he changed a strong lyric in the song. He says "I wear this crown of thorns..." instead of "I wear this crown of shit..." From what I've read, someone wasn't sure if Cash would say "crown of shit" since Cash is religious so he decided to substitute the lyric with "crown of thorns" for Cash to sing.

Crown of thorns makes more sense than a crown of shit.

Not if you know the context it is supposed to be in...

And in the context of the meaning behind Cash's version crown of thorns makes more sense. But thanks for the condescending tone.

I wasn't trying to be condesending. I sincerely thought you usually don't listen to NIN, so you wouldn't know the context. Sorry if I was misunderstood.
Anyway, as to your point, you have a point. I think the meaning of Cash's version is different than the meaning of the NIN version. Basically, to me, even though he has suceeded in his chosen career, and amassed fame and fortune, in the end, it means nothing, while the NIN song was talking more about someone who thought he was shit since the beginning.
Anyway, what I am trying to say is I think both versions are cool.
