Nope, the Lakers, much to my dismay, will win it all, especially since, despite all of their extra cap money, the Spurs don't look like they'll be getting Jason Kidd, Alonzo Mourning, Jermaine O'Neal or ANYONE that could actually help them. Whoever San Antonio's GM is should be fired because they should've at least signed ONE big free agent, especially coming off of an NBA championship season. With the Lakers getting Malone and Payton, I wouldn't be surprised if they went undefeated. That's just too much firepower for any team to overcome.

Well, Jason Kidd is going to resign with the Nets, and Alonzo Mourning is coming in to NJ.
San Antonio needs to pick up P.J. Brown NOW. Juwan Howard is going to Minnesota, Jermaine O'Neal is going to stay in Indiana, I think the only credible big man left is P.J. Brown, and I feel that he would fit nicely to SA. If Brown goes to SA, they have a shot to repeat.
I'm glad they didn't get Kidd, why would SA need him? Tony Parker is going to only get better in the years to come.
As for LA, on paper, everybody else in the league is fucked; however, they play games on the court, and not on paper. Let's see how they gel together.
My thoughts are that they will gel together. Going undefeated?? No way in hell. I think they will challenge the 72-10 record Chicago had in 1995-96. They are the favorites now for the title, but I can see NJ, SA, and MAYBE Dallas giving them a fight next year.
All this is depending on if Kobe is proven innocent or not though. I personally don't think he did anything, but you never know in this crazy world.

Well, the Spurs didn't get Zo. This has been a very uninspiring offseason.
I don't think they'll beat Chicago's win-loss record. Payton may not have the chemistry needed to make the Lakers work. Even if they do, I don't see them beating Chicago's record. There has been "superteams" like this in the past, and they weren't all that they were cracked up to be.
Anyway, next season I predict a repeat of this year's finals. Spurs/Lakers in the West conferences, Nets/Pistons in the East.
EDIT: Hey I was pretty close.

PJ Brown is much more valuable then you realize. He's the type of guy you need.

They'll miss the playoffs completely when it's revealed that Shaq and Kobe killed a 12-year-old boy and raped his dead body. Then, the rest of the team will die in an industrial fire.
... Or they'll wind up winning anyway. Who knows in this crazy world where child molestors win Oscars?

Good. Keep him away from my Spurs. Of course now that leaves us with the awesome Nesterovic! But considering how everyone is just signing with some other team than the Spurs, I bet we don't get him either. Nesterovic signed a 6 year deal with the Spurs. Am I the only one who thinks the Lakers will fail with all their starpower.

Am I the only one who thinks the Lakers will fail with all their starpower. Yes, you are. Seriously, though, it's possible the Lakers could just bomb. They'll be in serious trouble if The Rapist Kobe Bryant goes to prison.
